The Guest Artist in Print Program (GAPP) welcomes Berlin-based artist pair, Re:Surgo!, consisting of the Swedish-French duo Anna Hellsgård and Christian Gfeller, to the the Department of Art and Art History and the Visual Arts Center. Re:Surgo! will be installing a project in the VAC's Fieldwork Project space. During their residency at the VAC, Re:Surgo! will collaborate with students to produce new work. The residency will culminate in a lecture on their work and process at 3:30 pm as well as a reception directly following at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, October 27, 2016.

Hellsgård and Gfeller's project, Die Wand/Die Mauer, is a research-based inquiry into large-scale screenprinting. Of topical interest, given issues that have surfaced in the recent presidential elections, Die Wand/Die Mauer takes its name from two German words for "the wall."

Gfeller and Hellsgård's works have been exhibited worldwide and are in numerous permanent collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Stanford Art Library, Harvard University's Fine Art Library, the State Museum of Berlin's Art Library, the Yale University Art Collection, the British Library, the National Library of Luxembourg and many more.

The Guest Artist in Print Program (GAPP) is the visiting artist program of the Print Area within the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Austin. GAPP seeks to expose the university community to a combination of emerging and established artists immersed in an expanded print practice.
