Through exhibitions, artist talks, eco-art workshops, nature journaling experiences, and community projects, Dr. Lori J. Santos invites people of all ages and artistic backgrounds to explore their own relationships with nature. Participants are encouraged to slow down, look closely, work with their hands, and become more attentive to the everyday environments around them. She believes these seemingly small acts of noticing can open larger conversations about belonging, responsibility, regenerative-sustainability, memory, and how we care for the places we call home.

Dr. Lori J. Santos is an eco-based artist, educator, researcher, and Associate Professor of Art Education at Wichita State University. Her heritage includes roots interwoven with the cultures of Puerto Rican Indigenous Taino, Hawaii, and the Azore islands. Growing up somewhere over the rainbow in Kansas and Oklahoma she spent her childhood marveling the joys of nature. At the center of Santos's work is the belief that art can help us remember our relationship with the Earth. Santos has received regional and national recognition for her work as an artist, educator, researcher, and community-engaged scholar, including the NAEA Western Region Higher Art Educator of the Year, Kansas Art Education Association Higher Education Art Educator of the Year, Wichita State University Mikey & Pete Armstrong Faculty Excellence in Creative/Scholarly Activity Award, the United States Society for Education through Art Community Service Award and the Kenneth Maratz Fellowship.
