Bio

Alex Grimley is a doctoral student studying modern and contemporary art with an interdisciplinary focus on experimental music, Color Field painting, and Abstract Expressionism. His dissertation focuses on Morton Feldman, Kenneth Noland, and Jules Olitski.

A regular contributor to the Brooklyn Rail, he has written extensively on contemporary landscape painting and abstraction. In addition, he has written essays for exhibitions at Miles McEnery Gallery, Hollis Taggart, and Yares Art, among many other galleries.

He is currently organizing an exhibition of contemporary art, Painting in Color, set to open at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH in March 2026.
