Farima Fooladi was born in Tehran, Iran, and currently lives in Austin, TX.
Fooladi received a BFA from Alzahra University in Tehran, an MA in Painting from the University of Art in Tehran and an MFA from Penn State University. She is the recipient of the 2024–2025 MacDowell Fellowship, Lawndale’s 2024 award for The Big Show, juried by Dr. Laura Augusta, and the 2023–2024 Pollock–Krasner Foundation Grant. Fooladi was a 2023 Artists on Site resident at the Asia Society Texas Center, where she explored themes of migration and space in more depth. Her recent solo show, The Fever, was a series of new paintings that explore the interplay between architecture, memory, and politic of a space. These paintings were created during Fooladi’s 2025 MacDowell residency in Peterborough, New Hampshire. The Fever was on view at Lawndale Art Center in Houston until May 3rd, 2025.
