Studio Art: Photography & Media

Sturchio creates photographs, sound installations, artist books, and poetry that explores themes of queer identity, non-normativity, and vulnerability. Sturchio currently lives and makes work in Texas. Sturchio often travels back to her home state of Maine to make work with her sister on an ongoing collaborative and socially-engaged project, called Chasing Light. Sturchio is an Alexia Award Recipient (2017), a Magenta Foundation Flash Forward awardee (2019), and is supported by organizations such as the The Maine Arts Commission (2012), the John Anson Kittredge Fund (2016), The Arch and Anne Giles Kimbrough Fund (2019), and the Andy Warhol Foundation regranting program through SPACE Gallery (2018).
