Center Space Project

Center Space Project (CSP) is the Visual Arts Center’s student-run arts organization.

The group organizes several activities each semester:

  • Three exhibitions in the VAC’s Center Space Gallery
  • Professional development workshops
  • Visits to artists’ studios, local galleries and museums
  • Studio visits with local artists and graduate students
  • Travel to arts locations throughout Texas including biannual trips to volunteer at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa

What We Do

Center Space Project provides opportunities for UT students interested in participating in a larger artistic community. The organization fosters dialogue between students, curators, critics, gallerists, and artists. CSP members create an environment in which art can be experienced, discussed, and analyzed. Members contribute their unique interests and skills to the collaborative production of exhibitions and events at the VAC and beyond.

CSP draws strength from all its members. We hope you’ll join us.

Get Involved

Center Space Project draws its members from across the UT campus community. The organization welcomes current UT students (undergraduate and graduate) from all departments. Membership is free.

Working with the VAC was the first time I had the opportunity to experience the inner workings of a fully-staffed and professional non-profit [art] space. Installing artwork can be a draining experience, so it was great to have a team of preparators available because I was able to spend more time thinking about the curation of the pieces rather than the technical details. Having Center Space officers and VAC staff constantly checking in with me really raised the stakes and pressured me to perform at my best.
