Anika Steppe: View from

February 20 – April 18, 2020

In this site-specific installation, Anika Steppe explores the difference between her experience in a place versus her perception of a place through maps and photographs. In View from, Steppe presents fragmentary and fantastical views of three courtyards that blur distinctions between outside and inside, the subjective and objective. Her layered multimedia installation highlights the interpretive role that speculative inventions play in one’s sense of wonder and the relative truth of one’s perception.
