A Flame That Never Dies, 2017, oil on canvas, 84in x 72in.

Following her two-person exhibition with Melissa Wyman, Push/Pull, at Incline Gallery and a solo show with Los Angeles’ Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Laurel Shear (MFA in Studio Art, 2015) gained gallery representation with Fort Gansevoort in New York.  Known for shape-shifting in a competitive gallery environment, Shear’s representation signals further expansion to the west coast for the gallery.

Focused on under-the-radar artists, Fort Gansevoort displayed Shear’s massive, lush oil paintings in a solo booth at this year’s Untitled art fair in San Francisco, which took place on January 12 – 14, 2018.

Shear currently lives and works in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. She will be debuting new work in a solo exhibition at Fort Gansevoort’s New York gallery later this year.
