Andy Coolquitt (MFA in Studio Art, 1994) is exhibiting i have no idea, a site-specific installation with boutique shop Las Cruxes in participation with Big Medium’s E.A.S.T (East Austin Studio Tour). Coolquitt utilizes scavenged materials to create shrine-like works of urban detritus. He highlights how humans relate to each other and to the spaces around them - how architecture, objects, and environment interact to manipulate space and dictate experience. The exhibition opened with a performance on Nov. 11, and will be on view at Las Cruxes until Jan. 31, 2018.

The Austin and UT audience is most familiar with his master's thesis work, a house, a performance/studio/domestic space in 1994. Coolquitt's recent exhibitions include strange pilgrims, at The Contemporary Austin; thief among thieves, at The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver; burn these eyes captain, and throw them in the sea!, at Rodeo Gallery in Istanbul, Turkey; and the problem today is not the other but the self, at the Goethe Institute in New York.
