Back in October, Megan Hildebrandt was selected as a Downtown Austin Space Activation (DASA) Artist Resident, presented by the Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation in partnership with Tribeza. The program "aims to breathe new life into vacant or underutilized spaces in downtown Austin, transforming them into vibrant hubs of artistic expression and community engagement."
Hildebrandt created a series of portraits called "The Ambassadors" that celebrate and honor the essential individuals that keep downtown Austin clean, safe and welcoming. "As I created their portraits, the Ambassadors told me about the pride in the work that they do and shared stories about their lives," said Hildebrandt.
The portraits are currently on view at the Downtown Austin Alliance's space downtown at 506 Congress. To see more portraits, check out the series here. To learn more about the DASA residency program, click here.
