The Los Angeles County Museum of Art: LACMA will host the US-premiere of Flora, an exhibition by UT Austin Art and Art History faculty Teresa Hubbard / Alexander Birchler, based on their discoveries about the unknown American artist, Flora Mayo, with whom the Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti had a love affair in Paris in the 1920’s. The work was first presented at the Swiss Pavilion in the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. Flora will be on view at LACMA from January 20 - April 7, 2019.

On January 19, Hubbard / Birchler were joined by Stephanie Barron, Senior Curator of Modern Art at LACMA, and independent curator Philipp Kaiser for a public conversation about the work. Later in the spring, on March 28, Hubbard / Birchler will join Effie Marie Cain Regents Chair in Art at The University of Texas at Austin Richard Shiff for a public conversation about the work.

The exhibition has received early raves, including being named as one of 22 "unmissable shows" in America by Artnet
