Staycation thresholds is the latest exhibition presented by MASS Galley, spotlighting a group of ten Austin-based artists, including Sunday Ballew (BA. in Germanic Studies and Anthropology, 2012), Emily Cross, Bug Davidson, Levi Dugat and Simone Thornton, Andrew Hulett, Marisa LaGuardia (MFA in Studio Art, 2017), Alicia Link (MFA in Studio Art, 2016), Betelhem Makonnen (BA in History and Literature of African Diaspora, 1995), and Stephanie Concepcion Ramirez (MFA in Studio Art, 2016).

The diverse group of artists in staycation thresholds explore the idea of thresholds, specifically as, “a symbolic and physical boundary of: space, feeling, geography, or surface.”

The work on view revels in materiality, looking at the mystery and magic of layering objects, surfaces, time and experience using a variety of mixed media such as video, painting, drawing, sound and photography. Located at the newly relocated MASS Gallery, the exhibition will be on view through Dec. 8, 2018. An opening reception will be held at MASS Gallery as well on October 26 from 7-10 pm.
