* To meet the regular deadline students should submit the UT Austin online application by December 1 and all additional required or optional application items by December 8, which includes the portfolio submission. Update: As of December 8, 2021, UT Austin has extended the deadline for optional application items to December 10, 2021 at 11:59PM CT.

1. Complete the admission application to UT Austin.

Things to Know

  • When prompted in the application, enter your first-choice major as:
    BFA Art Education (509956)
  • Applicants will only be considered for admission to one major in the department.

  • When prompted to submit your three short-answer questions, please be sure to also include the additional short-answer requirement for Art and Art History.

2. Submit your portfolio.

Things to Know

  • The portfolio submission requires 12 pieces of work, 2 of which must be from direct observation.
  • An artist statement is required.
  • Resumes are optional.
