The UT Austin Guest Artist in Print Program is pleased to present writer, artist and translator Lauren Moya Ford. This writing workshop will include an introduction to Ford's background and beginnings as an art writer, and offer insight into approaching a topic, researching, crafting a thesis and introduction, working productively, and editing throughout a writing project. Ford will also give practical advice not only about how to get going in art writing, but how to work effectively once you’ve started.

Lauren Moya Ford is a writer, artist, and translator based in Madrid. Her writing has been published by Apollo–The International Art Magazine, Art & Object, Artsy, Glasstire, Gulf Coast Journal, Harlequin Creature, Hyperallergic, Mousse Magazine, and Sightlines

Ford moved to Spain in 2015, and is one of the few art writers working in English in the Iberian Peninsula. Her unique position as a bilingual writer and artist has allowed her to share the region’s artists and cultural life with an international audience. Her subjects have included Sarah Affonso, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, Lourdes Castro, Ceesepe, Ignacio Zuloaga, and a number of young Spanish and Portuguese contemporary artists.

Guest Artist in Print Program (GAPP) focuses on contemporary print and expanded media in the form of ephemeral project-based work that includes performance, publication, and installation. Through direct engagement with students, GAPP artists provoke thorough, intellectual, and exciting conversation about the state of contemporary print.
